Applause for Our Emerson Community!
A huge thank you to everyone who came out for the Davis Parent University’s latest event featuring speaker Jacob Ward. The turnout and engagement were a powerful reminder of how much this community values thoughtful conversation, learning, and connection.
If you weren’t able to attend—or want to revisit the discussion—you can watch the recorded talk here:https://www.davisparentuniversity.com/
We’re grateful to be part of a community that shows up and leans in.
Community Update: School Board Petition
Some Emerson community members have shared a petition to the DJUSD Board of Education addressing concerns about declining school enrollment and how future decisions are made.
In summary, the petition urges the School Board to:
Create a Community Advisory Committee made up of diverse and equitable representation, including parents, teachers, and school staff, to identify priorities and explore district-wide solutions;
Provide adequate time, data, and resources so impacts on students, equity, traffic, the environment, staffing, and the broader community can be fully considered; and
Commit to transparency and shared responsibility by expanding how data is generated and discussed, with real-time, two-way engagement so community feedback is meaningfully heard and considered.
Families who wish to learn more or participate are encouraged to review the petition and stay engaged in upcoming discussions. https://www.thepetitionsite.com/803/467/049/a-community-led-path-forward-for-djusd/
Step In. Speak Up. Shape Emerson.
The PTA Nominating Committee is forming—and we’re looking for Emerson community members who want to help shape the future of our school.
This committee will seek out and invite families to join the Emerson PTA Board for the 2026–2027 school year, ensuring we have a strong, thoughtful slate of leaders ready to serve.
Here’s the thing: decisions are made by those who show up.If you care about programs, community, and what Emerson can be, this is your moment.
